The ship that goes to where the wind comes from.
Theft is not recommended
If you want to take this ship to go fishing, go ahead.
But note: You will not return.
Windvinder sails against the wind, and that's the only direction he can go.
It's ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE to steer this vessel by hand.
Have you seen this ship?
Please report date and position to the expedition leaders.

+++WINDVINDER+++UNMANNED VESSEL OF THE EXPEDITION TO THE ORIGINS OF THE WIND+++
Anyone can join this expedition. All you have to do is this:
If you find this vessel, please make sure that it continues the voyage to where the wind comes from.
Heading: Into the wind. To the source!
If it is threatened to run aground on a reef, bring it back to deep water, open to windward.
If necessary, please repair. *
* (not only for our American friends: TAKE CARE in the rotation area of a spinning wind turbine! )
Windvinder is a wooden skeleton covered with nylon fabric, easy to mend without tools. Use bamboo, driftwood, or whatever you can find. Fabric and twine for repairs in the skin are on board. Any patches or new seams have to be made watertight with varnish or grease.
If you have an idea how to make this ship better or stronger, then go ahead and try it out!
Windvinder is a research vessel. Change whatever you want to change. Or build an entirely new vessel, larger or smaller. But whatever you do, ensure that the Windvinder, whatever shape he is in, resumes his voyage to the origins of the wind: powered and steered by wind alone.
You may say: that’s impossible! Sail against the wind. And, of all things, propelled BY HEADWIND !
But, as you can see, the THING is here and it is real. You can touch it!
Wherever you found the Windvinder, he got there by travelling into the wind. He, himself, will show you how.
Few people are ever lucky enough to meet a real Windvinder.
If you happen to be one of them, don’t throw this chance away!
Windvinder is a travelling challenge. Accept his invitation!
Understand and GRASP the Windvinder – yes, literally, with your hands – make him better and stronger, and send him on his further voyage!
Your reward will be what you have learned from him: the knowledge that this is possible - this ship and this voyage to where the wind comes from. A voyage that goes further than any single one of us can go - beyond our horizon. But WE ARE MAKING this journey... WE MAKE IT HAPPEN.
Welcome to the global expedition team!
People will laugh at you – but only until the Windvinder dances over the waves again, three curious bows pointing into the wind. Then you'll be the one laughing!
Help this research project to continue its journey across the ocean – in the “impossible” direction – and you become a member of the Expedition to the Origins of the Wind.
Please write your name (and where and when you found the ship) on the Windvinder’s skin. Use some good paint that will not be destroyed by sun and seawater. No tattoos please!
Report date, position, and any changes in the construction to the expedition leaders. Click here.
Please note: All Windvinders look different.
The only thing they have in common is what they do: travel to the origin of the wind.
The swarm lives and grows. Again and again the Winged Canoe is spotted – each time in a changed form. And more and more often, coming closer, it turns out to be a new one…! The most incredible vessels - fantastic bamboo constructions built on islands and even on fishing boats, with sails from fish skin and rice sacks… some bigger, some smaller, but all on the way to where the wind comes from, steered and driven by wind alone. Some make mysterious music, others glow at night…
Imagine to find such a jewel in the middle of the ocean...
See if you can help - and the voyage goes on!
